Here is our cute little Maycee Elizabeth! she couldn't wait to join our family and came 2 weeks early. She was 5 lbs. 15 oz. and 19 1/2 inch. This meant she was 1.5 lbs heavier and 2 inches taller than Cayley. She fits in Preemie clothes which I love and hopefully we can get at least 1-2 more weeks in Preemie everything. I was planning on having a C-section anyways ( back to back) but I actually went into labor so that was "Fun" (not!). She was really close to being born on Tim's brother, Don's, birthday but she was 6 minutes too late, darn that paperwork! Oh well, she now has her own birthdate of December 22, 2010. Sandwiched between Don and me. We came home after 3 days (should have stayed the extra day to get the good meds and one on one attention but oh well) so we could be home for Christmas and to see Tim's family before they all went back to their homes. We love having her and Cayley loves holding her (even though it is only for about 30 seconds sat a time).

Well, I will work on getting more pictures off my phone and I will try to keep you updated more than 2X a year. Hope everyone had a great Holiday, I know we did.

I don't have pictures right now but I am at least going to say something. This year has been great. We have started school again, we had a family reunion in Logan, we have played lots of games including our new favorite DOMINION, visited Canada for a week, done a little camping, I was in charge of Girls Camp for my ward, Went to Texas for a school conference and got to see the 6th Floor Museum where JFK was shot, moved back home with Tim's parents, I am coaching Cross country for the 3rd year, I helped with Track in the Spring (I get to video record the finishes and post individual times for the sprints), and dealt with morning sickness (lasted about 12 weeks but gone now...phew!)and we found out we are having another girl.

This is a glimpse of what we have done at least since about March. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

Oh yeah, now Jeff and Cristy are both at BYU and we can visit them and they can visit us. Now 3 of the 6 Valenza's are in Utah (majority since Jenn is in WA and the parents are in CA) I guess that means they all need to come to Utah for vacation more often.

Happy 2nd birthday cayley! This is one of the presents Cayley got from her grandparents and parents this year. She loves to play on her slide. Everytime we go into the back yard and she sees it she wants to run over to it and play. Thanks again Grandma and Grandpa Valenza for the gift.

Spring Break

Well, did Cayley and I have a blast? yes we did (but we missed daddy). Cayley and I went to Virginia Beach, Virginia to visit my Aunt Maria, Uncle Mike, Timmy and Suzie, and dogs Baylee, Maggie and Izzy. We were able to celebrate Cayley and Suzie's birthdays on Sunday. Cayley got lots of cute clothes for summer and the cute book 10 little ladybugs.

We got to go to the beach and run in the water (even though it was freezing), but Cayley loved it. We are not sure that Maggie knows how to swim but she tried to jump in a little ways but then she came back out.

We went shopping for Cayley and bought her 5 new outfits using a christmas gift card, from Childrens place for summer so future pictures will have her in these new outfits.

We went walking on the boardwalk at least 2 times a day and on one day, we walked the mall and then a huge chunk of the boardwalk for a total of 15,042 steps! It was so fun. We got to see a huge sculpture of Neptune.

We also went to the Virginia Aquarium. This was fun and Cayley loved it. We got to touch Sting Ray's and a Horseshoe Crab. We got to see the Seals eating and Otters. Cayley loved the big fish and crabs and lobsters. She kept looking for Nemo but this aquarium only had local sea life. There was a 65 year old sea turtle. We also got a picture inside of jaws. We got to see 3 different types of sharks.

Valentine's Day

I will let you know that I had a pretty cool Valentine's Day gift from TIm. I will post a picture later but our camera is not working so I can't get the pics off. When I got home from a crummy day at work Friday, I was greeted by a big pink box with Floral Print. I brought it in the house and opened it to find that Tim got me a Floral Arrangement from Hawaii. A few years back, he got me a dozen roses, 6 red and 6 white and I thanked hiim and said they were beautiful but that I would take 1 bird of Paradise over a dozen roses any day. Well, that's what I got. 3 Bird of Paradise and a bunch of other exotic flowers that I don't know what they are called. IT was fun because I had to put it together my self. I learned how to cut and arrange them according to what you want the focus to be on. I followed the directions to a T and sprayed them 2 times a day with a squirt bottle but they only lasted about 1 week. I took lots of pics so I will have to live with that. It was awesome. Then, Jenn, Adam, and Collin came up and we hung out and had dinner. It was a relaxing weekend and fun. I will get the picture up soon, even if I have to get one off my phone.

Well, a lot happened in the month of January. Let's start with New Years'. Tim and Cayley fell asleep at 8:30 and 10:30 respectively. When the clock struck midnight, I went out in the 20 something degree weather and watched our backyard neighbors set off "illegal" fireworks, as they were shouting with each explosion and flying bang. I wasn't too worried considering there was about 12-15 inches of snow.

Then, the second week of school, we had the semester break and my job assignment changed slightly. I was taken from Northridge High school and switched over to Canyon Heights High school, which is an alternative High school for teenage mothers and other kids with anxiety issues. Sounds crazy right? Well, actually it is awesome because the 3-4 girls in my classes know that they need to finally buckle down and pass their classes so that they can get a job. This position however is only for 2 periods a day so I am at Layton for an extra period. This class is the exact opposite end of the spectrum where there are 3-4 boys who think the only purpose of school is so "their parents can get a free babysitter".Pretty much, I have been told that if they don't burn the building down or destroy things, or assult girls/boys, to consider the day a success. There are good days and bad days but I am starting to feel better.

On January 16, 2009, my Grandma Valenza, passed away from what we think was a massive heart attack. She fell and hurt her back just after Thanksgiving and since, had been having chest pains that she thought were heart attacks but every test was run and results came back normal. She was 79 and had small issues that probably combined to cause the big problem but it was very much a surprise to us all. She is survived by her 3 older siblings, 2 kids, 7 grandkids, and 2 great grand kids and her dog Maggie. She was very vocal about her love for her family and didn't use the lack of money as an excuse not to spoil Cayley and Collin. We were able to attend the viewing and funeral in Peoria, Az, and the burial in Simi Valley, Ca, the following Wednesday and Saturday. It was emotional and still feels unreal since we don't get to see the family very often but we were comforted in the fact that she has been re-united with Grandpa and other friends that preceeded her. She has a simple faith in our religion and will be missed by family, friends and church members who frequent the library on Sunday's. ( I will add picturs of Grandma when I get home)Grandma didn't leave us wealth in the monitary sense but she left us with her knowledge and skills of cooking yummy Italian food, crocheting and love of games. Jenn and I went through some of her things and we were able to divide her collection of movies, mostly musicals, bags full of yarn, and collection of salt and pepper shakers. We have many memories of grandma and can't wait to see her again. We love you Grandma!

That was January in a nutshell. Some happy, some sad but at any rate, we have learned a lot and are better for what experiences we endure.

Cayley got a fun toy that is mostly an outside toy with 4 pop up pieces, a dome tent, a Teepee and 2 tunnels to crawl between but in our tiny little house, we can only play with one part so we picked the tunnel. Cayley likes to pretend she is taking a nap in it. Daddy couldn't wait for her to wake up so he went in and woke her up at 7am. He is such a little kid.

Ok so I am trying to catch up all in one day. These are some pictures we took at the end of the year of Cayley. The ones with me in them are not too bad considering the I got my wisdom teeth out 3 days before Christmas. Cayley loved Christmas and opening presents. She got some fun toys and some cute clothes. Some gift cards we are going to wait to use in the Spring just before we go to Virginia beach for Spring Break to visit Aunt Maria and Uncle Mike. Is that bad when you plan your spring break over Christmas break? I wanted to get a slideshow but I couldn't get it. I will work on it to get the rest of the pics up.

I know this is a few months late but better late than never right. Grandma Bugnet made the cute costume. It took her a few minutes to get the idea of saying "trick or treat" so she just said "trick or trick". Once she got candy in her bucket, wanted to sit down in the street and eat it. She was very funny.

Here is Cayley showing off her new "Bling". We finally did it. We got her ears pierced. She was awesome! After the first one she just looked at Tim like she knew it was hurting but she didn't know why. Then after the second ear, she let out a cry but we came prepared with an Orange Julius to distract her. It worked and my friend, who was the one doing the piercing at Claire's in the Mall, said she was better than most of the 6 year olds she has. She is so cute but I don't know if this picture does her justice. I will try to get some better ones up.

*Who watches your babies most of the time? Over the summer me but during the school year, Tim's mom Karla (Thank you so much!!)

*How did you know when to go to the hospital? I was sent over after a routine check up on Monday with pregnancy induced high blood pressure (toxemia/pre-eclampsia) and didn't come home till Sunday (and with out the baby because she was in NICU for 2 weeks :(. She is doing fantastic now though:)

*Anyone spend the night with you on your first night home? We actually moved in with Tim's parents the day after Cayley was born but she came home on a Friday so Tim was able to be home.

*Did you cry when you first held the baby? I don't remember even holding her the first time, I was so out of it from combinations of drugs and trying not to have a seizure.

*Where was the baby born? Ogden, UT, McKay Dee hospital

*Did you record the birth? No, didn't want to and we weren't prepared. but we got lots of pics the next day.

Well, This is the first week of being in my two schools. I have just learned exactly what I am teaching which is a relief. For those of you who don't know, I am teaching at Layton and Northridge High schools. Kinda tricky I know, but on "A" Days, I am at Layton and on "B" days I am at Northridge. It should all go pretty smoothly but just the other day, I was asked to coach the Layton Cross Country team... I know, I let you read it again, yes I am going to be coaching Cross Country! They said I don't have to run with the athletes but I just have to motivate them. I do want to get started so what better way.
At Layton I am teaching Resource Algebra A/B which is experimental. The ultimate goal for all Special Ed students is to mainstream them into regular classrooms but the neat thing about my class is that if they can get an A or a B, they can actually move out. I am also teaching two Applied Skills classes which to the students means "homework hall". Little do they know, I will be doing much more than just homework... I am going to have writing assignments, math assignments, reading assignments and maybe even through in a little health and fitness. Pretty much what I want to do with them that will help them understand other areas of school but in a fun way. I will be sharing my class with a Biology teacher at Layton.
At Northridge I am teaching 2 Math Intervention, which is where I talk to their regular math teachers and duplicate their lessons but on a slower pace and with a few different approaches. The other class I am teaching is English 11. I think I am going to be able to get the whole if not at leaset a part of lesson plans from the previous teacher so I will not be re-inventing the wheel. I will have 3 different classrooms at Northridge which means I will be buying some carts and filing cabinets on wheels.

I am very excited and can't wait to meet my students. I am usually well liked so hopefully the trend will continue. Well, I better get to bed but I will try to report on the first week of school. Layton starts August 25 but Northridge won't start until the 27th due to technical difficulties. Wish me luck!!!

These are some pictures we took out on the front lawn. A few days later, we went to Arizona for a week. It was awesome. We are still trying to figure out how to get video of Water World on the computer. It was unusually cool (only 100-104) for this time of year in Phoenix so we were lucky. This meant we either stayed in doors with the air conditioning or went swimming in the pool. We went up to mom and dad's cabin to work and we camped inside the cabin in our tents and sleeping bags. It was fun. We went up to Sedona which is beautiful with red rock and green trees as well as hot. We had a blast but as all vacations go, it went by too fast.

Spring Break

Well, I have never enjoyed Spring break this much. In just 2 days of being home with Cayley all day I have realized 2 things.
#1 I don't ever want to work away from home ever again. We don't really do a whole lot but it is just fun being with her and seeing how she checks up on me to make sure I am not going anywhere. She will be playing with her new easter toys from Grandma V and drop what she is doing, crawl over to me, lay her head on my lap or leg or some other body part, and then go back to her toys. She is getting so big. She is into some 12 M stuff and she still has 3 weeks till she is 1. I love it.

#2 We really need to get our own place and find another babysitter. We love the free grandma daycare but I have really noticed some bad habits Cayley has picked up from her slightly older cousins. All habits I am sure she would have discovered on her own but not for a while such as whining, opening the cupboard with cleaning supplies and freaking out and crawling away when we change her diaper. I know these are all normal baby things but up until last week, Cayley did none of them. Oh well, enough ranting.

I really am loving spring break and we are going to finish the week off with a trip to Las Vegas to visit cousins. I have never been to Vegas to hang out, just drive through. It should be fun.

Ah! the first day of Spring

OK, so it was yesterday. So, a lot happened yesterday. First off, Cristy turned 16!!! Crazy I know, I can't believe my baby sis can now date and drive. News from her, she got extreme highlights in her hair and her friends T.P.'d their house. My parents caught them the first time, they ran off and so my dad turned the lights off as if they were going to bed; and of course, they came back. This time, my parents sat in the living room and just watched. Kinda anti-climactic if you ask me.

Second, I finished my first Quarter of school as a full time teacher. I am not a contracted teacher yet so I have to find a new job for next school year but can't beat $17 an hour to lift weights and run on a treadmill... anyways, I try to keep the grades up to date which in turn makes it feel like I am constantly doing calculations. It is fun though. The 2 other P.E. teachers I work with are very unique in their own way. One of them, Naomi, is amazing and is teaching me so much and the other I feel I am teaching him and he is relying on me to save his grades for him...whatever.

Third, I am starting my Spring break. Yeah!!!! I have been waiting for this for a long time. Unfortunatly, if you remember back a few paragraphs I am an hourly teacher, I do not get paid if I don't work. It is worth being able to spend 9 straight days with Cayley though. I miss her so much during the day. On my computer at school, I have downloaded her adorable portraits and set them for the screen saver. Now, anyone that comes into our office gets to see her. I leave the house at 8:00am (sometimes Cayley is awake when I leave) and I get home around 4:45 or 5:00pm when Cayley is usually waking up from her afternoon nap.

Well, I guess I need to write more often so people will check out our blog. This is pretty fun.
